An under-fence plinth fills the space below a fence panel and gives the fence line a concrete base. If you are ordering plinths for a new boundary or replacing an older product, start with the current dimensions rather than an earlier brochure or photograph. Retain The Earth’s revised under-fence plinth is 2350 × 200 × 60 mm and weighs 65 kg.

Current under-fence plinth specification

The published specification lists a 2350 mm length, 200 mm height and 60 mm thickness. It describes reinforced 60 MPa concrete, 50 mm rebated ends, a bevelled exposed face and a square, trowel-finished rear. The listed finishes are Portland Grey and Blackwater Charcoal. Check the current 60 mm plinth technical data sheet and technical specifications page when planning an order.

The 60 mm figure is the thickness of the current plinth. The 200 mm figure is its product height. Neither figure alone determines the visible height after installation, which depends on the fence arrangement and site levels. Confirm how the rebated ends fit your posts or channels before committing to a quantity.

Choosing a finish

Portland Grey offers a lighter base below the fence. Blackwater Charcoal is the darker choice. Look at the plinth alongside the colour of the fence panels, posts, paving and nearby walls. A completed installation photo is useful for judging the overall effect; ask for a current product view if the exact surface appearance matters to your project.

Measure the fence run before ordering

Record the length of each straight run, the number of bays and posts, gates, corners and any changes in ground level. Compare those measurements with the 2350 mm product length and the details of your fence system. The number of plinths is not simply the total fence length divided by 2350: post spacing, rebates, cuts and layout can change the order.

If the fence line retains soil, has a substantial level difference or needs an engineered detail, have the proposed arrangement checked for that site. Do not assume an under-fence plinth has the same role as a concrete sleeper designed for a retaining wall. Plan access and safe handling for the installed product with your contractor or supplier; confirm the actual unit mass with Retain The Earth before relying on a weight for transport or lifting.

Ask for a quote with the right details

Send the fence layout or measurements, the number of bays, chosen finish, post or channel details, delivery location and any project drawings. Retain The Earth can then discuss the current plinth and availability. For the wider product range and contact details, visit Retain The Earth.
